The Mines of Moria

Hi there, thanks for stopping by!
This project is near and dear to my heart, and I'm excited to finally be able to share it with people.
Being a huge fan of Tolkien and his works, I really enjoyed every minute working on this environment, especially the research and reference gathering. A lot of inspiration came from Ted Nasmith's paintings of Middle Earth and Moria.
We begin looking at the Doors of Durin. The doors were built by the Elf and Lord Celebrimbor, and the dwarf Narvi. The Western entrance leads to the great Dwarven city of Khazad-dûm.
I imagined this environment taking place in the 4th age, where we finally see the ancient kingdom of Khazad-dûm being recaptured by the dwarves once and for all.
With this environment I really wanted to handcraft most of the elements, so most of the stuff in here is 1-1 and has had a Zbrush pass.
