The Lordaeron Throne Room
This project is a recreation of the iconic Lordaeron Throne Room from the Warcraft universe. As a long-time fan of the franchise, I wanted to explore this space through a more narrative-driven lens, imagining the moment immediately after the fall of the King, as the Scourge begin their invasion of the castle and the city beyond.
A key focus of the scene is contrast—a visual struggle between light and darkness, good and evil. The throne serves as the central focal point, acting as a lingering beacon of light amid the growing corruption and decay surrounding it. I also pushed the environment slightly toward stylization, exaggerating shapes, lighting, and color to better support the mood and strengthen the visual storytelling while still hopefully staying true to the Warcraft aesthetic.
The environment was created using a combination of tiling materials and custom assets. This project also gave me the opportunity to further explore Unreal Engine’s Niagara system, which I used to create several VFX elements to enhance atmosphere and bring the scene to life.
